the bird laid an egg!
Our 6 year-old cockatiel, Baby, laid her first egg today!

She's been acting really "nesty" lately, and today she disappeared under our dresser, which is a spot she's been eyeing for a while now. She finally came back out after a good hour and the first thing she did was take a very bloody shit, right down Kaleena's computer screen. That was pretty scary because we had no idea what was wrong with her.

Then Kaleena checked under the dresser where the bird had been and saw what looked like an egg, on the carpet, right in the back corner. She was like, "What is THAT!?", because it could have been an egg, or it could have been a spider egg sac or something. I took a look and, sure enough, it was a tiny egg!

Hee hee! Can you believe that? Our bird laid an egg! Oh man, that really tickles me for some reason!

And the whole time Baby was under there, laying this egg, she didn't shriek or squawk or anything. Her first egg ever and not so much as a peep! Hmmm, silent egg-laying - she must be Scientologist bird or something!

Once we got over the initial shock and amusement, we thought we'd better look around the place to make sure that she didn't lay any more eggs anywhere else in the apartment that the bird has been nesting. It felt like Easter!

We boiled Baby's egg so that she could keep it without it breaking or going rotten. We just hope that it was un-fertilized or else that means we boiled the bird's first born!

Hopefully, Baby won't keep laying eggs though as that is supposed to be quite hard on a bird. Apparently they tend to lay a maximum of three to five eggs, so we boiled this one so that she could keep it. Otherwise she might just keep laying 'em!

Oh man, funny stuff!
